We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in the journey of Refugee Hope Partners (RHP). Our Founder and Executive Director, Michele Suffridge, will be stepping into a new role as CEO/Founder. This transition reflects the remarkable growth and maturity of RHP over the years and positions us to serve refugee families with even greater impact in the future. Michele’s leadership has been the cornerstone of Refugee Hope Partners since its inception. Since 2007, long before RHP officially launched in 2018, Michele has dedicated her life to serving refugees with unwavering compassion and determination. From supporting a single refugee family to building an organization that now serves over 400 refugee families from 72 countries, her vision, faith, and perseverance have been transformative. For nearly two decades, Michele’s life has been deeply interwoven with the lives of the refugee neighbors we serve. Her passion, knowledge, and commitment have driven RHP’s success, shaping its foundation when we officially launched and guiding its growth ever since. As CEO/Founder, Michele will focus on advancing RHP’s strategic vision, building key partnerships, and championing the mission to welcome and empower refugees in our community. Her passion and dedication have shaped the heart of RHP, and she will remain a vital presence in ensuring its long-term success.

Why Is This Change Happening?

As RHP continues to grow, it’s vital to ensure we have the leadership structure needed to meet both current operational demands and long-term strategic goals. This leadership evolution will:

  • Strengthen RHP’s Impact: As CEO/Founder, Michele will focus on building relationships with key stakeholders and diversifying fundraising efforts, and advocating for refugees on a broader scale, allowing RHP to expand its reach and impact.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence: A new Executive Director will oversee RHP programs and day-to-day management, ensuring a balanced and effective leadership team.
  • Support Strategic Growth: This transition is part of a vision to expand RHP’s “Welcome Center” model, aiming to serve 2,500 families annually across Wake County by 2034.

What’s Next for Michele and RHP?

Michele’s transition to CEO allows her to focus on:

  • Deepening Donor and Partner Relationships: Strengthening connections with supporters and exploring new funding opportunities to secure RHP’s financial future and sustainability.
  • Advocacy and Storytelling: Elevating the voices of refugee communities through speaking, writing, and advocacy.
  • Strategic Growth Initiatives: Leading projects like the expansion of Welcome Hubs and decisions about RHP’s facilities to support future growth.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Exploring opportunities with national Christian refugee organizations and global partners to foster innovation and collective impact.
