Ways to Pray for Refugees.
Thanksgiving & Praise
Deuteronomy 10:17–19 • Psalm 9:9–10 • Isaiah 49:6
“The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed… He loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing.”
Give thanks to God for:
- His steadfast love, justice, and nearness.
- The strength and resilience of refugee neighbors overcoming trauma, language barriers, and transitions.
- Recent graduates—from high school or college—who’ve persevered through instability.
- Churches, donors, and volunteers who are faithfully welcoming and serving refugee families.
- The gospel reaching across languages and cultures in our city.
Intercession: Refugee Needs
Philippians 4:4–9
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer… let your requests be made known to God.”
Pray for physical and emotional needs:
- Safe housing: For families in unstable or unsafe housing—especially single parents seeking stability.
- Medical needs: For refugees with chronic or complex health conditions; for access to care and healing.
- Grieving families: For comfort for those grieving lost loved ones or homes, or separated by war or closed borders.
- Mental health: For those navigating trauma, isolation, or depression—may God bring healing and community.
- Employment: For those attending RHP’s Employment Hours to find stable, fair-paying jobs.
- Education: For children and youth adjusting to school and for refugee students overcoming language and academic challenges.
Church & Volunteer Engagement
John 17:20–23
“…that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me and I in you… so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
Pray for the Body of Christ:
- Unity among churches and organizations serving refugees together in Jesus’ name.
- Church leaders: For boldness and clarity as they disciple their congregations in welcoming the stranger.
- Volunteers: For strength and consistency, especially those bearing emotional burdens or serving long hours (e.g., medical drivers).
- RHP staff: For joy, wisdom, and protection from burnout or division.
- Gospel partnerships: For collaboration between churches, resettlement agencies, and ministries rooted in the Gospel.
Mission, Salvation, and Discipleship
Psalm 67 • 2 Corinthians 5:14–21
“We are ambassadors for Christ… that His saving power may be known among all nations.”
Pray for God’s mission to advance through refugees and those who walk with them:
- Salvation: That many refugees would come to know Jesus as Savior, Healer, and Friend.
- Evangelism: That our team and volunteers would have Spirit-led, culturally sensitive gospel conversations.
- Discipleship: That refugee believers would grow in faith and lead others. Pray especially for:
- Adults attending Bible study at RHP’s Welcome Center.
- Students gathering to study God’s Word at Cedar Point Apartments.
- Equal partnership: That refugee believers would be seen and embraced as co-laborers in God’s mission.
Kingdom impact: That every donation, prayer, and act of service leads to deep, lasting transformation—for refugees and the Church.
