Internships.

The RHP internship program offers college-age students an immersive and transformative experience in serving and supporting refugee communities in Raleigh, NC. This program is designed to align interns’ interests and skills with the needs of RHP’s initiatives, providing a meaningful and enriching experience. Interns gain valuable skills, empathy, and a deeper understanding of the refugee crisis while making a tangible, positive impact on the lives of refugee neighbors.

By engaging in this comprehensive, hands-on program, interns are equipped to become compassionate advocates and leaders in their future endeavors.

The Details.

INTERNSHIP TERM

The internship program spans from August to May, aligning with the typical school year calendar.

PART-TIME AND HOURLY PAID

Interns are offered part-time positions and are compensated on an hourly basis. The hours are set based on the availability of the interns and the needs of RHP’s programs.

ON-SITE REQUIREMENT

The nature of the work at RHP requires interns to be physically present on-site; hence, remote internships are not offered. This ensures that interns can actively engage in hands-on experiences and directly interact with the refugee communities they are serving.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The application process for prospective interns includes interviews to assess their suitability for the program. Additionally, background checks and references are part of the selection process, ensuring the safety and security of refugee communities and the organization.

KEY FEATURES OF THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
  • “Boots on the ground” experience: Interns will have the opportunity to actively engage with RHP team members and participate in hands-on work in various programs. This means they will be directly involved in serving and assisting refugees, gaining practical experience in the field.
  • Combination of work hours and projects: Interns will be assigned specific programs to work in, contributing to the day-to-day operations of RHP. Additionally, they will take on assigned projects that allow them to utilize their skills and make a lasting impact on the organization.
  • Education and training: Interns will receive education and training on various relevant topics, such as the refugee crisis, working in a non- profit setting, crisis management, worldview, race, culture, and leadership. This aspect ensures that interns develop a comprehensive understanding of the issues surrounding refugee communities and develop essential skills for working in the non-profit sector.
