As Refugee Hope Partner’s 5th annual Fall Retreat drew to a close, it wasn’t unusual to find frozen peas plopped on heads, scattered around the gaga pit, or even being munched on by students and leaders. This playful nod to the weekend’s theme, Jesus is our Peace, added a lighthearted touch to our largest retreat to date.
With 62 students, 18 staff and volunteers, and three partner churches – St. Andrews Presbyterian, Imago Dei Church, and Bayleaf Baptist Church , who prepared and served every meal – the warm November weekend was filled with connection, laughter, and an undeniable sense of God’s presence.
This retreat wasn’t just about the games, dance battles, or dodgeball tournaments; it was a weekend anchored in the steady peace and hope that only Jesus can bring. A huge thank you to RHP’s amazing volunteer base who provided snacks and to New Life Camp for hosting us so graciously. Students expressed a strong desire to pursue discipleship, engage in Bible studies, and deepen their relationship with Christ—evidence that the impact of this retreat will linger long after the peas are gone.
