“I still have a dream”

Jan 20, 2025 | Resources

“In spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s words echo powerfully today, reminding us at Refugee Hope Partners that hope endures.  As we walk alongside refugee families, we hold fast to the dream of a welcoming community where every person can find safety, opportunity, and belonging. Dr. King’s vision inspires us to persist in the work of loving our refugee neighbors so that all may thrive. On this Inauguration and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we ask that you take a moment to pray for the unity of our nation and the new presidential administration – that in this new year we each would seek to love our neighbors and promote liberty and justice for all.

Join us in prayer for:

1. Wisdom and Compassion in Leadership

Pray for newly inaugurated leaders to govern with wisdom, integrity, and compassion, making decisions that uphold the dignity of all people, including those seeking refuge and safety.

2. Refugees and Their Resettlement
Lift up refugees who are starting new lives in the United States, asking for smooth transitions, access to resources, and welcoming communities that reflect Christ’s love.

3. Unity and a Heart to Love Our Neighbors

Pray for healing across the divisions in our nation and for a renewed commitment to love and serve our neighbors as Christ has called us to do.

4. Nonprofits, Churches, and Volunteers Supporting Refugees

Pray for organizations, churches, and individuals working to support refugees, that they would have strength, provision, and wisdom to meet the needs of the vulnerable and be beacons of hope in their communities.

Throughout every administration change, global crisis, or resettlement challenge, our commitment to walking alongside refugee families remains the same.

Our hope in Christ is sure and steadfast, and we thank Him for first modeling our vision of loving our refugee neighbors with the hope of the gospel in partnership with the local church.
